Time flies, for children, leaving kindergarten for primary school is as natural as the change of seasons, which is worth looking forward to. When a child steps into primary school with the schoolbag on his / her back, he / she will face a new environment, and needs to be fully prepared to meet the changes of the future. As the teacher of a K2 class, this is a precious period of time to be with them.

Every year, a lot of Newton graduates will go to Xingwan school and become a primary school student at Xingwan. We have cooperated with Xingwan school every year to carry out primary preparation activities. In order to further understand the characteristics of learning and life at Xingwan school, and to prepare for the upcoming school year, on June 16, we have invited Ms. Yin, a senior head teacher of Xingwan school with rich experience in primary school preparation, to come to our campus to have close communication with the K2 teachers on "how to make a good connection with the change of learning methods", "adjustment of children's procrastination habits", "correct writing habits" and other concerns many parents may have. This will be so K2 teacher can have better help to guide children in daily life, and make full preparations for the transition to primary school.

We are in the middle of primary school preparation

1.Adjust the time schedule: encourage children to go to bed early and get up early, and come to school on time between 08:00-08:20 every day; do some learning center games and learning activities during nap time, so that the daily schedule will gradually transition to the same time as primary school students.

 

2.Create a good atmosphere and environment for children: let children enjoy the close relationships with teachers and friends; create a relaxed and positive environment to make the transition to primary school smooth and stress free.

3.Cultivate children's independent consciousness, and the ability of self-management and self-service: help children to recognize different learning tools; try to organize their schoolbags and own items, have the consciousness of managing their personal belongings, and put things back after using and kept clean; be able to go to the toilet and eat independently, guide children to correctly handle eating, washing, go to toilet and other things.

4.Change the teaching mode step by step: reduce the use of games in teaching activities, realize the development of children's unintentional attention into intentional attention through various reasonable ways, such as the requirements from teachers, the activity rules and the competition between children; cultivate children's self-control ability and rule awareness, and let children understand that they need to look at the person when listening.

5.Pay attention to the cultivation of habits: such as the correct sitting posture and the posture of holding a pen when writing; cultivate the reading habits and interest, good reading habits can help children more easily in primary school.

6.Join hands with Xingwan to arrange cloud visit to primary school activities, stimulate children's yearning for primary school life, and enter primary school more smoothly.

Facing the coming primary school life, parents also have different anxieties and confusion. What parents can do：

1.Items preparation: purchase primary school students' learning supplies, so that children have expectations for primary school.
2.Preparation of eating habits: there will be no breakfast and afternoon snacks in primary school. It is necessary to let children form the habit of eating on time, especially to ensure the intake of breakfast nutrition.
3.Preparation of routine: cultivate children's habit of going to bed early and waking up early. Before entering primary school, gradually shorten the naptime. After supper, have the children do some simple studying tasks, so that children can form the habit of doing homework at night.
4.Cultivation of living habits: pay attention to the cultivation of children's self-care ability, and gradually reduce help from parents or other adults; require children to participate in some housework within their ability and learn simple labor skills; cultivate children's concept of time, consciously arrange children to complete some tasks within the specified time at home; guide children to learn reasonably how to plan and arrange their own time and activities.
5.Preparation for learning ability:
（1）Pay attention to the cultivation of concentration. When children are full of interested in doing things, do not interrupt or interfere, try to let them focus on the thing; give children the opportunity to choose their own activities.
（2）Pay attention to the cultivation of listening ability. When talking with children, parents could squat down at the same height with children, listen to them carefully, and pay attention to your way of speaking and listening, so that children can feel that you are listening, and set a good example for them.

（3）Pay attention to the cultivation of reading ability. Parents can prepare some books with pictures and texts, accompany children to read every day, increase their reading opportunities, and accumulate reading volume.
