In the full bloom of spring, Newton annual “Festival of Colors” come as scheduled. The two-week festival includes multicultural lessons and a variety of experiences.
In the first week, teachers led the children to feel the culture and customs of different countries by various activities, such as reading story books, exploring the national flags and landmarks, learning about the iconic plants and animals. Children experienced different languages, costumes, food cultures, ballads and artistic activities from all over the world.
As for the second week, children started their global exploration journey in eight countries, India, Germany, Japan, Egypt, Russia, Scotland, Brazil and Mexico, which is carefully prepared by the teachers. Children participated in various activities such as handcrafts, food making, folk dance, traditional games, music and costumes, it was an immersion experience for them to get to know different culture.
In the cultural tour, children enjoy their own way of exploring the world! Let’s get on the train and travel around the world with us!
Mexico:
Mexico is one of the centers of the ancient civilization of the American Indians. Children make interesting maracas and castanets by collecting environmentally friendly materials, as well as sombrero, tacos, and colorful sombrero.

India:
One of the four ancient civilizations in the world, has a splendid and time-honored culture. Look, children are making Indian traditional snacks “coconut ice” together with their teachers, they are dancing with homemade handbell and perform a unique Indian handbell dance . The children play with beautiful handmade clay lamps which is stand for good wishes and experience the beauty of deep Indian culture!
Germany:
Talking about Germany, we will think of the rigorous spirit of black, red and gold, and the magnificent Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. There are other customs that are also interesting. High mountain hats, school color bags, and bamboo pole dancing add the impression of clarity and joy to Germany.
Japan:
Japan is famous for Mount Fuji and koinobori which is full of love and blessings. At Newton, children find out more Japanese elements by folding paper crane, taking part in funny Japanese folk games and making delicious sushi!
Egypt:
In Africa's vast deserts, ancient mysterious pyramids and sphinx attract tourists from all over the world to Egypt. Children made beautiful bracelets and necklaces, pharaoh's headdress, and danced interesting Egyptian mummy dances with their teachers, bringing them closer to distant Egypt, deepening their understanding of Egyptian culture.
Russia:
With beautiful Lake Baikal and spectacular Ural Mountains, our vision becomes wider as we enter Russia. Cute and warm bear dance, "hot potatoes" solitaire game, this time, the children also become the embodiment of Russian craftsmen, making a lovely pure handmade Russian Matryoshka dolls.
Scotland:
In Scotland, where the hills are wide and the grass is grassy, the most interesting thing for the children is that the boys even put on the tartan skirt and dance with the girls. Children can experience the fun of Scottish culture by making fur bags, learning to dance high and throwing stakes.
Brazil:
Brazil is the largest country in Latin America. The children experience the speed and power on the green field in Newton, dancing with their friends to the passionate samba, and handmade carnival masks to experience the passion of Brazil.
Festival of colors - International Fashion Show
On the last day of the festival, children attend a special international costume show! They choose their favorite countries from the 8 countries they have been experienced in this journey, and put on their characteristic costumes for a colorful party in spring! It is not only a way for children to express themselves and build confidence, but also an opportunity for children to connect and understand the world in this way.
Festival of colors - St. Patrick's Day
St.Patrick's Day is originally from Ireland and celebrated on March 17 every year, and this year our festival of colors just meet with St. Patrick's day, which is full of hope and green. Every year, Newton festival of colors is an international cultural pageant, which not only broadens the children's horizon and mindset, but also fully displays the multi-cultural characteristics of the kindergarten.
