As abstract thinking gradually emerges, K3 children's curiosity and desire to explore the world grow stronger. This semester, they will follow the thread of "Cultural Exploration" to step into the hall of diverse cultures.
Shadow puppetry, as part of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage, carries a long history and profound cultural significance. Before leaving the campus, teachers conducted a shadow puppetry-themed lesson combining physical objects and stories—from its origins, materials, and production methods to hands-on manipulation of puppets and impromptu performances on a mini stage. The children immersed themselves in this world of light and shadow, bubbling with interest.
As their understanding of shadow puppetry deepened, the children developed a strong interest in further exploring its performances. At the "Yimeng Huaxu · Chinese Shadow Puppetry Light and Shadow Exhibition," they observed spectacular light shows and dynamic shadow puppet displays. Traditional characters leaped and danced between light and shadow, filling the children with wonder and joy as if they had traveled through time with the stories, experiencing the unique visual impact and charm of art.
"How are shadows formed?" "What is needed to create a shadow?" Teachers skillfully guided the children to ponder the principles of light and shadow through fun shadow games. Science and culture intersected here, stimulating aesthetic appreciation, creativity, and a spirit of inquiry. "Why do shadows grow bigger or smaller?" "Why can't we see clearly when a flashlight is turned on in a bright place?". Questions emerged one after another, gradually answered through repeated demonstrations and exploration.
Nature Exploration · Initial Experience of Eco-Environmental Protection—K2 Dongsha Lake Ecological Journey
This semester, K2 focuses on the theme of "Urban Life." Teachers will guide the children to discover and understand the diverse aspects of the city through practical observation and experience.
Before the trip, the children had the opportunity to learn about how garbage can be "turned into treasure" through practices like "kitchen waste composting" and "garbage sorting," while also realizing the importance of environmental protection.
With the question of "What is environmental protection?" in mind, they entered the Dongsha Lake Ecological Education Base to embark on a journey of ecological discovery. Staff detailed the environmental operations and the park's ecological cycle system. Through games like "Tree Matching" and "Leaf Friends," the children experienced the wonders of biodiversity. Reaching out to touch rough tree bark, widening their eyes to carefully compare leaf shapes, nature quietly found its way into their hearts.
Water is the source of life. In the "Turning Dirty Water Clean" experiment, the children were amazed to find that materials like cotton, sand, and activated carbon could filter impurities from water. A lively and interesting experiment quietly planted the seed of saving water and cherishing resources in their hearts. Hands-on experience also fostered a sense of social responsibility and a spirit of exploration.
"Learning through experience, growing through exploration." We believe these firsthand experiences will become beautiful seeds in the children's hearts, quietly sprouting and blossoming as they grow.
