Newton's traditional "Unity Week" was welcomed with sunshine, a cool breeze and comfortable temperatures. This year teachers combined the Sports Day activities with Unity Week to form a colorful, vibrant week of events at campus under the slogan "United Through Sports!"
All in the name of sports, we improved children's understanding of friendship, unity and teamwork while experiencing firsthand how physical movement actually do make us happier. All surrounded by the beautiful Autumn colors along with our supportive Newton families!
Let's Go! - An energetic and powerful opening.
What is the color of childhood? A big beautiful rainbow!
We kicked off the first parent involved event of the semester with a sea of vibrant colors as each class was represented by their own color and wore it on shirts, socks, accessories and even face paint!
The 2023 Sports Day flag symbolized unity and bravery and was presented by K2 students before the grand opening ceremony. Each class, some accompanied by parents, formed a group and waved their colorful flags up high as they marched confidently with passion and energy while chanting their class slogan! "We Can Do It!"
New students from Pre-nursery and Nursery joined the Sports Day for the first time together with their parents and though they are still young, their sweet voices, laughter and cheer showed us just how strong and brave they are as they marched hand-in-hand. What a great memory!
Fun parent-child sport games.
Laughter is all around when parents and children enjoy the exciting games together!
The cheers and applause could be heard far away and laughter spread throughout campus as parents and children joined the games, completed challenges together and had a great time!
Pre-Nursery & Nursery families enjoyed a variety of fun games such as transporting watermelons, moving balls, crossing the colorful river, bowling and more. The games exercised their skills of jumping, balancing, climbing and throwing in an encouraging atmosphere.
K1 & K2 children put their teamwork skills to the test as they tackled the games of rolling the wheel, team transport, warrior and running challenges. The games all showed their determination, perseverance and unity. What a great time together with our friends and parents!
Physical energy and sportsmanship!
Parents who joined the sports day event are role models to us all!
United - Exploring the fun activities!
Our children's passion and joy spread to our amazing parents as well as they took part in games such as the paper race and rolling the wheel. These games all showed unity and teamwork as parents moved together in sync showing our children what it means to cooperate and work together for a shared goal.!
United - Friendly Matches
The competitive, but friendly match of tug-of-war was as timeless and exciting as always. Demonstrating how strong a team is when they work together children cheered excitingly for their parents competing. While not about winning, the age old game showed how unity combines the strength of a team and whether we almost win or actually win, we do it together!
United - We run for joy!
As the grand finale of the sports day, K2 parents and children finished with a "Unity Run" around campus. The flag waved high and to the beat of drums, families gave it their all and ran around the campus before reaching the finishing line. Around the track fun surprises were hidden and surprised our participants. Our students grow with every step and as they challenge themselves, they welcome the unknown and the endless possibilities of a bright future!
The award ceremony - Keep the memory!
There are no losers only champions! Every child who challenged themselves and grew a little is a big winner!
Although the event only lasted a short time the little athletes of the day gave it their all, worked together and shared their joy and successes. With pride and a big smile on their faces they deservedly received the ceremonial Sports Day medals at the finishing award ceremony!
Newton's Sports and Unity Week came to a perfect end and as we can still hear the roar, applause and laughter echo our campus, we believe that our children will keep the sense of sportsmanship and unity they have shown this week with them every day in the future!
