I am a "Little Eco-Warrior"
The exploration began with a charming rabbit puppet named "Little Eco-Warrior." Through engaging picture books, the children learned simple yet effective ways to protect the Earth: proper waste sorting, saving water, and upcycling old items. In the subsequent hands-on session, through a waste-sorting game, the children discovered that clean plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, and old clothes are "recyclable treasures," while used tissues belong in the "Other Waste" bin.
What can a washed plastic bottle become? With a spark of creativity, the children used paper strips, light clay, and buttons to give these bottles a second life! Striped vases decorated with colorful paper and "rainbow" pen holders wrapped in vibrant clay emerged one by one. The children were amazed to see how "waste" can be transformed into something beautiful and useful.
Meanwhile, the playground became "cluttered" with scattered trash! Our Little Eco-Warriors set off on a mission to clean it up. They crawled through tunnels, crossed bridges, and climbed over mats to collect plastic bottles and crumpled paper, placing them into the correct bins. Not only did they enhance their physical coordination, but they also reinforced their waste-sorting skills through play.
Eco-Fashion Show: A Birthday Gift for Mother Earth
On April 22nd, Earth Day, the K1 children arrived at school wearing incredible eco-friendly costumes co-created with their parents at home. From cardboard dinosaurs and colorful trash-bag skirts to creative outfits fashioned from repurposed old clothes – each piece was full of imagination. As the music played, the children stepped onto the stage in small groups, showcasing their outfits with confidence and pride in their eyes.
Through this first Earth Day experience, we hope to plant the seeds of environmental awareness in our children's hearts. By starting with small, everyday actions, they will begin to understand how to cherish every resource and protect our shared home – the Earth.
